Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo had already re-named the capital city of Santo Domingo after himself, but he also wanted the best baseball team in the Caribbean. To that end he recruited all the stars of the Pittsburgh Crawfords, including Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and Cool Papa Bell. The Crawfords never recovered.
