About Ebbets Field Flannels

Ebbets Field Flannels is the finest manufacturer of vintage historically-inspired athletic clothing. Since 1988 we have been creating fine handcrafted clothing, based on our extensive historical research, passion for authenticity and belief that athletic clothing of the early to mid 20th century, made of natural fabrics makes great timeless clothing today.

Our Story

The EFF story began in 1987, when founder Jerry Cohen wanted an accurate vintage flannel baseball shirt and could not find anyone who made one properly. Frustrated, he began a manic quest to acquire these shirts, and after locating some old wool baseball uniform fabric in a warehouse, began making them for himself and then his friends. One thing led to another, and Ebbets Field Flannels was born. The name was tribute to his Brooklyn childhood, when his interest in baseball history was first piqued by his father's stories of Jackie Robinson. Rather than focus on contemporary major league teams, Cohen married his love of baseball history with his expertise of baseball uniforms and decided to produce unique flannel jerseys that told the story of baseball history "beyond the major leagues".

In our early years we were the first to pioneer authentic reproduction apparel from the Negro leagues, the independent Minor leagues and Latin America. Our passion for the history of the game and the authenticity of the garments soon won us the attention of people like Spike Lee and David Letterman, and our products began to appear in films and television shows as well as on the field in the form of "turn back the clock" games.

Many years and thousands of jerseys later, EFF's mission has expanded to include historical apparel from football, hockey and other sports. What has not changed is our commitment to authenticity. We believe the finest athletic clothing (both in style and quality) was made in the USA in the early to mid 20th Century, and that by adhering as closely as possible to the charm and craftsmanship of those original garments we create a truly timeless item of clothing for our customer.

We believe historical American athletic clothing is timeless. Our products are not based on fads or trends, so they can never go out of style.
We are a research-driven company. Every product we make has its roots in history. We do not merely slap "retro" logos on contemporary sportswear, but strive to make sure that fabrics, construction and craftsmanship are authentic - that is as close as possible to the original.
The price of an EFF garment fairly reflects the work and materials that go into creating it. Many of our products are made by hand and in very limited quantities. We love what we do, and want to share it with as many people as possible. Therefore we always endeavor to keep our prices fair.
