History: A youngster named Ted Williams took Minneapolis by storm in 1938. Williams was a one-man wrecking crew, batting .366, bashing 43 home runs, and knocking in 114 RBIs, winning the AA's Triple Crown. Not bad, considering he started the year having to borrow $200 to get to training camp in Florida. It was at Minneapolis that Williams had the good fortune to be coached by the great Rogers Hornsby. Hornsby and Williams are perhaps the two greatest pure hitters in baseball history. After his one season in Minneapolis, "The Kid" went on to future glory with the Red Sox.
