Chicago White Sox 1926 Wool Shawl Collar Sweater- Navy / Cream
REPLICA OF THE 1926 CHICAGO WHITE SOX SHAWL COLLAR SWEATER
History: Eddie Collins was player-manager of the White Sox in ’26, and hit .344 for the year. The roster also included a young shortstop named Moe Berg, who notified the club he would not report to spring training and the first two months of the season in order to finish his first year at Columbia Law School. Berg became a catcher when all three White Sox catchers sustained injuries. The intellectually-gifted Berg later traveled with an all-star team to Japan in 1934 and surreptitiously reported back to the OSS, the precursor to the CIA.
This heavyweight alpaca and wool blend sweater pays tribute to Berg and that 1926 team. We added a shawl collar, pockets, and authentic wool “SOX” felt lettering to the chest.
