Jersey City Giants 1950 Authentic Wool Ballcap- Black
THE FINAL CAP WORN BY JACKIE ROBINSON’S FIRST PRO TEAM
History: The 1950 season proved to be the final campaign for this once-proud franchise. The “Little Giants” routinely packed the stands at Roosevelt Stadium, which also saw the debut of Jackie Robinson in his first game in “organized” baseball in 1946. However, the new television phenomenon drastically affected attendance, as fans in Jersey City soon had games beamed into their living rooms from the three MLB teams across the river in New York City. On the field, the team performed well enough to make the playoffs, but the writing was on the wall, and the franchise was relocated to Ottawa, Canada for the 1951 season.
This is an authentic reproduction of the 1950 Jersey City Giants ballcap worn in their final season. It is hand-sewn from genuine wool baseball cloth and finished with felt lettering.
