Newark Eagles 1938 Authentic Wool Softbrim Ballcap- Navy
AUTHENTIC REPRODUCTION OF THE 1939 BALLCAP WORN BY THE NEWARK EAGLES
History: The Eagles began life playing in Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field in 1935, but moved to Newark the following season. One of the Negro National League’s top clubs, it featured shrewd female management in the form of Effa Manley and won the Negro League World Series in 1946. This was the high point for the team, as 1947 marked the beginning of integration, weakening the Negro Leagues as they lost top talent to the majors, including Eagles home-grown star Larry Doby, who integrated the American League in 1947 with Cleveland.
This is an authentic reproduction of the ballcap worn in 1938 by the Newark Eagles, hand-sewn from genuine wool baseball cloth and finished with a wool patch.
