History: Harvard supports 42 varsity teams, more than any other university in the country, and all of them carry the name Harvard Crimson. Competing in the NCAA DI Ivy League conference, Harvard’s fiercest athletic rival is Yale, with the two schools’ football teams facing off annually in The Game since 1875. Despite that rivalry, the Harvard and Yale track & field teams have been uniting every two years to compete in the world’s oldest continuous international amateur competition when they face a combined Oxford and Cambridge team.
