History: Brock debuted with the Cubs in 1961. Despite his speed, Chicago management wasn’t impressed with his development and traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. Brock helped the Cards win the ’64 pennant and upset the favored Yankees in the World Series. Brock won the NL stolen base title eight out of nine seasons from 1966 to 1974. Brock is a member of the 3000 hit club. During his long career he also was the recipient of the Babe Ruth Award, the Roberto Clemente Award, the Hutch Award, and was the NL’s Comeback Player of the Year in 1979. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1985.
