League: NFL
History: The Chicago Bears franchise began in 1920 when the team was known as the Decatur Staleys. They were led by player/coach George Halas. By the end of his illustrious career, George "Papa Bear" Halas was an 8 time NFL Champion and 2 time Coach of the Year. His influence on the NFL is unparalleled.
From his co-founding of the league itself, to bringing the T-formation to life and the recruitment of College Star Red Grange to the Bears, "Mr. Everything" indeed did it all. The Chicago Bears are simply synonymous with NFL history with a legendary list of Pro Football Hall of Fame players; Charter members include Halas, Grange and Bronco Nagurski. Sid Luckman, Bulldog Turner, Gale Syaers, Dick Butkus, Doug Atkins, "Iron" Mike Ditka, Walter "Sweetness" Payton, RIchard Dent and Brian Urlacher are others to name a few.
Today, the Chicago Bears are currently members of the NFC Northern Division and play their home games in Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois.
