USA National Team 1956 Authentic Wool Ballcap- Red / Blue
REPLICA OF THE 1956 BALLCAP WORN BY THE USA OLYMPICS TEAM
History: Baseball was a “demonstration” sport at the 1956 Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia. The lone match was played at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds between the United States and Australia, with the US represented by a detachment of the US Far East Command and Australia represented by its national team. Special ground rules were put in place due to the right field corner being only 225 feet from home plate. The US was declared the winner after six innings by a score of 11-5. The attendance of 86,245 fans was considered the largest audience for a baseball game in history to date.
