History: The Baby Cakes, originally known as the New Orleans Zephyrs, moved to the Big Easy in 1993 when MLB expanded by adding the Colorado Rockies and forced the Denver Zephyrs to relocate. While initially an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers from ’93 to ’96, the Louisiana Triple-A team also served as an affiliate for the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, and finally the Miami Marlins until the team was relocated to Wichita, Kansas in 2020. The team was renamed the Baby Cakes in 2017 as the result of a name-the-team contest, with other finalists including the Po’boys, Crawfish and Night Owls.
