History: The Pottstown Firebirds were immortalized in a documentary made by NFL Films called "Pro Football, Pottstown, PA", which was shown prior to Super Bowl VI in 1972. Their quarterback was the flamboyant Jim "King" Corcoran lead the Pottstown Firebirds to the ACFL Championship in 1969 and 70, he couldn't play in the 70 game because of a pulled hamstring. In 1971 he led the Norfolk Neptunes to another ACFL Championship. In 1982 he was inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame. In 1974 he was the second leading passer in the WFL behind Tony Adams and he led the WFL in TD passes with 31. The Firebirds were briefly a farm team of the Philadelphia Eagles. Home games were played at Pottstown High School.
