History: The Steamrollers were members of the BAA, one the forerunner leagues to the NBA. The team has the distinction of being the last professional franchise from any of the four major American professional sports to be based in the great state of Rhode Island. Coach Nat Hickey would occasionally suit up an play, and still holds the record for oldest BAA or NBA player, at 46. In addition to playing for more than a dozen basketball teams, Hickey had a 15-year career in minor league baseball, compiling a .306 lifetime batting average.
