History: The Richmond Braves, also known as the R-Braves, were a Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves that played in the International League from 1966 to 2008. The Richmond Braves began as the Atlanta Crackers after the then-Milwaukee Braves purchased the team and relocated them in order to move the MLB team to Atlanta in a somewhat convoluted series of moves. The Richmond Braves claimed five league titles while ushering players like Dusty Baker, Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Tony La Russa and Deion Sanders through their doors. In 2009 the Braves were relocated to Gwinnett County, Georgia and renamed the Gwinnett Braves.
