Product Details
History: This club was founded as Dai Tokyo in 1936, and made history when they "integrated" Japanese baseball by signing the African-American pitcher James Bonner. In 1941 the franchise moved to Osaka and became the Asahi team when they were sponsored by the Asahi Shimbun newspaper. When Japanese baseball reorganized into two leagues in 1950, Shochiku became a founding member of the Central League and played in the first Japan Series, losing to the Pacific League's Mainichi Orions. The team was merged with the Taiyo Whales in 1953.
