History: Manager Whitey Lockman led Tacoma to the PCL championship, finishing 14 games ahead of Tommy Lasorda’s Spokane Indians for the North title, then trouncing the Eugene Emeralds in the finals. In 1972 Lockman succeeded Leo Durocher as manager of the parent Chicago Cubs.
