History: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Baseball team of 1956 produced their first All-American in the sport as catcher & Co-Captain Elmer Kohorst earned the honors. Kohorst would lead the team to a 4th place finish in the College World Series as a Senior in 1957. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are currently members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Atlantic Division and play their home games in Jack Kline Field at Frank Eck Stadium, South Bend, Indiana.
