History: The first two College World Series ever played in 1947 & 1948 featured the Yale Bulldogs. Unfortunately they would find themselves in the runner-up spot losing to teams from the Golden State in the CAL Bears and USC Trojans respectively. Bulldog first baseman and 1948 Team Captain George H.W. "Poppy" Bush would go on to become the 41st President of the United States.
