Grambling State University
Ralph "Road Runner" Garr made a big impact his sophomore year helping the Tigers win the Southwestern Conference Championship in 1964. In his career, Garr led Grambling to a 103-11 record, highlighted by a 33-1 record and a third place finish at the 1967 NAIA baseball championship. Garr would set an NAIA batting record hitting .582 as a Senior before a successful 12 year Major League career mostly with the Atlanta Braves. Grambling State is a historically black university (HBCU) located in Grambling, Louisiana. The Tigers currently play in the Western Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Home games are played at Wilbert Ellis Field in Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones Park. "Where everybody is somebody!"
