St. Louis Giants

Before the formation of the first Negro National League in 1920, black baseball consisted primarily of independent clubs who created their own schedules and barnstormed. "Giants" was a common early name for many Negro league teams because of the popularity of John McGraw's New York Giants, baseball's dominant team in the early 20th Century. The St. Louis Giants later became the Stars, and were a charter member of the NNL.
