Red Grange, "The Galloping Ghost" signed with the Chicago Bears immediately after his college career with the University of Illinois. In 1925, George Halas took Grange and the Bears on a nationwide tour, which was widely credited with legitimizing professional football in the U.S. (the collegiate game being considered much more significant at that time).
