Description: During the era of flannel baseball uniforms, the undershirt was usually a two-layer wool blend/cotton fabric with sleeves matching the primary team color. Years ago while visiting a now-defunct sporting goods manufacturer we found one of these original garments. A little digging turned up the Canadian mill which made the shirts for the major uniform manufacturers of the day. We persuaded the mill to make them again – especially for us – and we called the result the “Fungo” shirt.
We’re excited to now offer those same shirts, embellished with embroidered felt patches from some of our favorite teams!

History: After being promoted to AAA status in 1954 the only Cuban entry in minor league baseball adopted the slogan "Un paso mas, y llegado" ("One more step, and we arrive"). But after their most successful season in 1959, when Havana won the IL Governor's Cup as well as the Junior World Series, their position in U.S. baseball became ensnarled in the political tensions caused by Fidel Castro's rise to power, and the franchise was unceremoniously transferred to Jersey City in the middle of the 1960 season. Despite efforts in recent years, Havana has not hosted professional baseball since. (The current Cuban League has been an amateur affair since Castro ended sports professionalism in 1961).
