History: The mascot for Loyola Mountain University is known as "Iggy" the Lion. Prior to the lion, which came on the scene in the mid 1920's, the athletic nickname was simply "Loyolan's." The Lions are best known for their basketball prowess of the late 1980's when they led the nation in scoring three consecutive years averaging 115 points per game over that span.
